Heard and Now Seen - TEN Countdown #4

The book of Job is always a good read, even more of a good read during the storms and struggles in this life. It’s such a fascinating read at how God intervenes and works in our lives for His purposes, a behind the scenes look at life you could say. Reading the behind the scenes of God and Satan discussing Job, I have wondered what the conversations were in Heaven as I went through my storm with cancer. I am certainly not of the same caliber and status of Job being a topic of discussion in Heaven, but I know God’s hand was in this storm from start to finish and just wonder.

Job 42:5 has become my verse describing my journey with the Lord and cancer. Job writes near the end of the book, “I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you.” I felt like Job in many respects. I believed in God. I was saved by Christ. I knew God worked in our lives. He had answered many prayers and I had seen Him work in my own life and the lives of others. But there was a distance, a quiet about Him, nothing bad at all, it was just how He was. He was working for sure, but maybe from a distance.

Then cancer came, and I saw God differently, not in His character, but in my experience with Him. I saw and felt His presence each day. His Word became alive as if He were speaking each verse just to me. He had always been there in each moment of my life, but here He was so close and personal, right there with each step and breath, each and everyday.

Like Job, I had heard of Him, knew He was working, but now I had seen Him at work so deeply in my life.

“I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you.”
