Be Strong and Courageous - TEN Countdown #6

I love the Lord’s admonition to Joshua as he’s preparing to enter and conquer the land of Israel. There has to be some trepidation on doing so in Joshua’s mind. Moses had passed away and the entire nation weighed upon his shoulders. The Lord comes into this moment and in Joshua 1:9 reminds him, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” God reminds Joshua, and us too, of His power in accomplishing His purposes.

It may be a verse that is often used too much, but I hope it doesn’t lose its meaning today or any day. Imagine God telling you in whatever situation you’re facing, “Be strong and courageous.” I feel chills down my spine just thinking of God saying that to me and thinking I could conquer the world. But the point is not to conquer the world, the point is that God is on your side, and with God you will always accomplish and complete His purposes … and with God by your side you will always have victory!

I leave you with two verses to take and hold close about these storms of life and God’s great presence and peace in them.

Isaiah 41:10 - “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

John 14:27 - “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
